Common Name: Ohio Buckeye, Hand Gernade Tree
Latin Name: Aesculus glabra
Size: Up to 45 ft.
Shape: Decurrent growth, Dense at the top, and similar to the Horsechestnut
Trunk: Trunk is straight uo to the half way point on the tree. The bark is small and can peel off by hand in small pieces.
Wood: The wood is very light, and not very good for firewood. It is strong and rarely cracks. The bark is light grey and brown.
Branches: The braches grow in waves upwards then drop normally below the attachment union then the leaves and smaller branches grow upwards for light.
