Common Name: Horse Chestnut


 


Latin Name: Aesculus hippocastanum


 


Family: Hippocastanaceae


 


Size: These trees grow approx 80 ft in ideal conditions which is most.


 


Shape: Decurrent shape, Tall and Rounded, Its dense near the top and light is visable through the lower sections.


 


Trunk: The trunk is small to about 15 ft, then breaks into multiple leaders.


 


Wood: The wood is fairly light.


 


Branches: The branches grow in a wave. They start growing upwards then drop and then grow upward near the tips which is the new growth growing for light and establishment. The branches when broken are very sticky.
