Subject: European Mountain Ash

Common Names: European Mountain Ash, Dogberry


 


Latin Name: Sorbus aucuparia


 


Family: Rosaceae


 


Size: Up to 45 ft tall.


 


Shape: Open not very dense rounded crown.


 


Trunk: Dark in color, with very smooth bark that has lenticels on it. ( little holes )


 


Wood: The wood is amazing firewood. Very hard and heavy.


 


Branches: Upward growing with some horizontal random growing branches.

Is this the same Ash tree that would be infected with Emerald Ash Borer?  Do you have any photos of an Ash tree that is infected? I am trying to decipher what type of tree is on my property and if in fact it has the bug.
