Common Name: Paper Birch, White Birch
 
Latin Name: Betula papyrifera
Family: Betulaceae
Size: Up to 65 ft tall. Averagely 45 ft.
Shape: The tree can grow tall with a single trunk, or can grow in a cluster.


Trunk: The trunk is white with peeling bark. The new growth is red.


Wood: The wood is favored for firewood. Although its on the soft side of hardwood.


Branches: The branches grow in a redish color until they mature and become white.


Description: This tree is a very popular choice for residents. It is very attractive when mature. The birch trees are prone to the birch borer and the birch leaf minor.
